Missouri parents may have seen the recent news stories pertaining to changes in rules about media cameras in courtrooms. The law now allows more media cameras to be present during certain court proceedings. At first glance, parents with upcoming child custody appearances may feel nervous about the changes.

There is no need to fear, however, as the new law prohibits the use of cameras in child custody cases, and many other cases where children are present or involved. Families have a right to privacy where their children are concerned. Going to court can be a nerve-wracking experience, and Missouri has taken steps to ensure that the privacy of children is protected in a court of law.

Court cases where children are involved, such as child custody cases, must be handled carefully. It is important for any children involves to feel safe and calm as custody matters are sorted out between parents and caregivers. Ensuring that the proceedings remain private can help lessen the stress parents may feel as they enter the courtroom.

If a parent has an upcoming custody hearing, he or she may be concerned that it will affect family relationships negatively. Many may fear their nerves will get the best of them when it comes time to speak in court. One thing they can do is to enlist the help of an attorney experienced in child custody law. An attorney may have a better understanding of custody proceedings, and may be able to help parents be better prepared to present their case in a court of law.
