Gwyneth Paltrow may obtain default ruling in child custody case

Many Missouri couples who end their marriages in divorce face complex issues that seem to take a while to iron out in court. Often, a central matter of debate for both regular people and celebrities who have children together is that of child custody. Fans throughout the world have followed the unraveling of superstars Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s marriage. It seems that Paltrow may be entitled to obtain a default ruling regarding joint custody of the former couple’s children.

Apparently, Paltrow filed for divorce from Martin in 2015. As is often the case in celebrity media coverage, the two have been seen together on many social occasions, vacations and even at intimate family gatherings. They have repeatedly stated that they have kept a close relationship for the sake of their two children.

It was recently publicized, however, that Chris Martin never actually signed the divorce papers filed by Paltrow. A judge reportedly has informed Martin that Paltrow may now be entitled to a default ruling, since he has failed to respond to the court. Basically, this would mean that Paltrow would be granted any request she makes regarding a divorce settlement or the future care and upbringing of her children.

Paltrow’s representatives have said that she is requesting joint child custody. Some say Martin’s business team will most likely file an answer to the proposed settlement in the near future. It remains to be seen what the court will decide with regard to child custody and other matters in the Paltrow-Martin divorce. Anyone in Missouri facing similar legal challenges can seek assistance to resolve those matters by contacting an experienced family law attorney in the area.
